Solar panel prices in Morocco

"How much does it really cost?" is the first question in almost every one of our meetings. This page gathers Moroccan-market order-of-magnitude figures, with their sources and their limits — not a firm price, but enough to budget with and to spot an offer that's abnormally low or abnormally expensive before your quote.

Turnkey brackets by power

These prices cover both the equipment supply and the full installation (inverter, wiring, structure, commissioning). They are drawn from Moroccan installer publications and online price guides — indicative brackets, not official rates.

Average turnkey cost: about 10,000 – 14,000 DH/kWc (equipment + labour — sources: solaropeak.com, ecovolt.ma, electrosolarplus.ma, lechantier.ma). The spread reflects roof type, distance to the electrical panels, inverter brand and installer margins. An on-site quote remains essential.

Beware of "4,700 DH/kWc" prices

You'll often see a price around 4,700 DH/kWc or even lower circulating. That figure corresponds to the equipment kit cost alone (panels + inverter, excluding installation, wiring, structure, connection) — implausibly low for a finished turnkey installation. Don't compare that figure to the brackets above: they are two different realities.

Surcharges depending on roof configuration

Not all roofs are alike. Some configurations add significant costs to the base bracket:

  • Tile or corrugated-sheet roofs (more technical installation): +6,000 – 12,000 DH
  • Steep slope (> 30°): +4,000 – 8,000 DH for safety equipment and installation complexity

The battery question: useful, but not cost-neutral

A battery-less installation (grid-connected) remains the most common and most profitable solution for most urban homes. If you want to store energy for the evening or protect against outages, an LFP battery adds a significant cost:

  • LFP battery 5 – 15 kWh: +22,000 – 60,000 MAD depending on capacity and brand
  • The payback period stretches by 1 to 3 years with a battery

VAT and customs duties

The tax regime is not uniform: bare panels are exempt from VAT (with no input-VAT deduction), a turnkey installation (supply + install) is subject to 20 % VAT — the brackets on this page are stated including VAT for individuals. Customs duties on imported inverters dropped from 17.5 % to 2.5 %, which has helped push their market cost down.

Return on investment: 5 to 7 years residential

The payback period most often cited by Moroccan installers for a standard residential installation (without battery) is 5 to 7 years. With a battery, add 1 to 3 more years. How many panels do you need?

Before comparing prices, you need to know the right power for your household. A household consuming between 4,000 and 6,000 kWh/year generally needs 3 to 5 kWc; between 6,000 and 10,000 kWh/year, more like 5 to 8 kWc. Our dedicated guide covers the full method: how many panels for my house?

A last word before signing anything

Use these brackets to budget and to spot an offer that's abnormally low or abnormally expensive. But don't ask them for what they can't give: a firm price. Your roof configuration, your consumption, your ONEE bracket and the distance between the panels and the electrical panel move the final total, sometimes by several thousand dirhams. The only figure that counts for your house comes from reading your bill and a visit — free and with no obligation.
